Module 7: Depression – Breaking the Fantasy, Reclaiming Your Centre
Welcome to this week's session on Depression.
In this module, we looked deeply at depression not as a flaw or failure, but as feedback, a signal that our perceptions have become imbalanced and our expectations misaligned with reality.
We explored how depression emerges when we:
Compare our present reality to a fantasy about how life “should” be
Hold onto regrets, ideals, or one-sided expectations that reality doesn’t match
Abandon our highest values in favour of injected expectations or people-pleasing
Suppress the full spectrum of life in favour of the “positive,” leaving the rest to manifest as symptoms
You’ll learn how:
Unrealistic expectations create emotional imbalances and physiological shifts
Depression is a form of perceptual compensation, a biological attempt to recalibrate us back into authenticity
Quality questions dissolve fantasy and reactive emotion by revealing both sides of a situation
Realignment with your true values restores vitality, direction, and a grounded sense of self
We also unpacked the biochemistry myth, clarifying that while neurotransmitters shift during depressive states, they are a response to perception, not the root cause.
As always, the workbook is available below for your reflection and integration. Use it to deepen your inquiry and revisit the core shifts we worked through together.
